Help with assembling deckchairs (misaligned holes ?)
Can't get the last screw in ? The holes in the seat don't seem to line up? Don't panic, this is not usually a manufacturing defect, but a question of tightening technique !
1. The golden rule : "progressive tightening"
To successfully assemble the seat and frame, it is essential not to tighten the screws completely straight away.
Why ? If you tighten a screw on one side, you stiffen the frame. The opposite screw thread will no longer be aligned and you will not be able to insert the next screw.
The correct 3-step method :
- Tighten all screws by hand, just a few turns. They should hold, but the structure should remain "loose" with some play.
- Once all the screws are in place in their respective holes, you can start tightening them.
- Tighten gradually : a little to the left, a little to the right, symmetrically until they are finally locked in place.
