Important : The wording “Subject to unpacking” has no legal value. To be eligible for compensation in the event of damage, you must follow the procedure below.
1. Inspect the packaging and the contents
- Check the external condition (impact marks, holes, re-sealed tape, etc.).
- Open the parcel to check the condition of the items.
2. Make precise reservations
If you notice any issue, you must write it clearly and in detail on the delivery note (paper or electronic) before signing :
- Damaged parcel : “Parcel crushed, product reference X scratched/broken.”
- Sound of breakage : “Sound of broken glass inside, parcel refused.”
- Missing item : “Parcel opened/re-taped, item Y missing from reference Z.”
- Pallet : “Broken pallet, product reference X damaged.”
Advice : If in doubt, or if the driver refuses to allow you to inspect the goods, refuse the delivery and write :
“Delivery refused due to inability to inspect damaged goods."
