"My barbecue is rusty"
The rust observed inside the heating element and the internal elements is usually due to poor maintenance. It is essential to clean your barbecue thoroughly after each use (inside the tank, burners and grease trap) as indicated in the instruction manual.
The charring of the flammable (cooking) fat can cause the protective layer to flake off and become susceptible to rusting. This damage is not covered by the warranty.
"My barbecue does not light up anymore"
For gas barbecues, check the compatibility of the accessories: use a 6 or 13kg gas bottle, Propane or Butane and a hose with G1/2 mechanical connector.
If the burner lights when lit with a long match or an electronic igniter, the ignition procedure has probably been carried out too quickly.
You should hear a "click" during the ignition procedure.

Troubleshooting checklist:
- Check that the piezo cable and the burner valve are connected correctly and that the cable is not damaged.
- Check that the burner and valve are not blocked.
- Open and purge the gas line (hold the switch down until you smell gas).
- Check that the T-pieces are aligned correctly.
- If it is necessary to change the valve or the burners please see the video tutorials below for guidance.
"There's fire in the barbecue"
During cooking, the grease can flow into the tank and onto the diffusers. The grease can catch fire when it comes into contact with the flames on a gas barbecue. It is essential to clean your barbecue thoroughly after each use (inside the tank, burners and grease trap) as indicated in the instruction manual. You must control and monitor the cooking process. This type of damage is due to improper use and as such is not covered by the warranty.
Our advice:
When the guests have left: Clean the grill
We all know that after a good barbecue, all you want to do is sit on a deckchair and relax. However, now is the time to act! The grill absolutely must be cleaned after each use, otherwise you will not be able to remove the grease marks. Are your guests asking for you? As a host cannot leave their guests behind, we advise you to leave the grills to soak in soapy water - you can add soda crystals to soften the food remnants.
Have your guests left? The real clean-up can begin! Don't hesitate to do a few push-ups beforehand, cleaning a barbecue can be a bit of a workout. The best way is to use a brass or steel brush with soapy water. Not enough? Grandma's little trick: baking soda and black soap, very effective! Soak a sponge with baking soda diluted in hot water and a little black soap. Rinse and wipe thoroughly. If your grates are not very dirty, you can even use crumpled newspaper to clean and shine. Let the grates dry and you're done!
Charcoal, gas, rotisserie: Cleaning method for each type
The charcoal barbecue
Of course, wait for the barbecue to cool down so as not to burn yourself, then you can empty the ashes. Then scrub with a wire brush. Be careful, do not use the same brush as the one used to clean the grill! For a little help, you can use soda crystals or a special degreasing product. Don't forget to clean the firebox at the end of each season. Otherwise there will be too much smoke and this will affect the taste of the food. About once a year, clean the various surfaces of the barbecue with clear water. If there is any residue, use a dash of washing-up liquid. Most importantly, do not use a hard sponge to avoid scratching the surfaces.
The electric or gas barbecue
Before starting to clean the barbecue, turn it off and cut off the gas supply. Cleaning the bonnet and the tank is very simple: you need soap and water. Can't get rid of stubborn stains? Use non-abrasive powder and rinse well afterwards. It is possible that a deposit will form inside the barbecue. Be aware that this is not flaking paint but charred grease. To clean it, use a soap solution with hot water, rinse thoroughly and let it dry. Never use oven cleaner.
Don't forget the burners! They should also be cleaned regularly. After disconnecting the gas supply and removing the grates, clean the burners with a fine brush and wipe with a cloth. To remove stubborn stains, lemon juice is your friend! Clean the blocked holes with a pipe brush or a metal rod for the smallest holes.
Lastly, check that the burners are not damaged. If holes or cracks are present, the burners must be replaced.
The rotisserie barbecue
Once the barbecue has cooled down, empty the ashes and clean it. The barbecue must be unplugged. After cooking, remove the grill and spit to avoid burnt residue. Put it in your calendar: once or twice a year, clean the barbecue with a mild detergent and water. Rinse with clean water and wipe dry. Be careful not to get water on the motor and its power cable. Do not use abrasive products. We recommend that you check the appliance regularly and replace any worn or damaged parts. The charcoal is placed directly on the bowl, so it is possible that the bowl will turn brown with use. Don't worry, this is perfectly normal.
And when not in use?
- After each use: Turn the switch to OFF. Close the tap and the gas cylinder. Barbecues do not like the weather or dust. They must therefore be kept under cover.
The essential accessory: a cover to protect it and prevent the ventilation holes from becoming blocked.
Note: Don't forget to wait until your barbecue is completely cold before covering it.
- Not going to use your barbecue for a long time? Disconnect the gas and place it outside in a ventilated area. Avoid placing it in a place where the temperature may exceed 50°C. We strongly advise you to store your barbecue in a dry, dust-free environment and if possible in its original packaging. UV rays, stagnant water and sea water could damage the appliance. Unfortunately, a cover is not always enough to protect your appliance.
Our final tip: cover the burners with aluminium foil to prevent insects and debris from settling on them. Before storing it for a long period of time, don't hesitate to give it a thorough cleaning. That way, you'll be ready for the first barbecue of the season!
